Micaila Abboud | Janey Gallery
Micaila Abboud (b. 1995) is a Lebanese-Canadian ceramic artist based in Nova Scotia. Her practice explores the intersection of material memory and ecological grief through handbuilt and wheel-thrown stoneware forms inspired by coral, shells, and coastal landscapes. Abboud is featured in Janey's inaugural group exhibition The Empress and makes her debut at Art Toronto in October 2025. Her work has been exhibited at Bref (Montréal, Canada), and she extends her practice through teaching, including workshops with IKEA and local community partners. Abboud holds a BTech (2019) and MMS (2022) degree in Marine Environmental Sciences from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her scientific training informs her artistic practice and commitment to environmental awareness and care, inviting viewers to notice, feel, and reflect on the fragility and resilience of marine ecosystems.
