Untitled Houston 2026 - Booth C6 | TERN Gallery

TERN presents three painting practices––all with connections to Jamaica––that explore the spiritual and emotional realms of home, ancestry and roots. While all three draw on visual languages of the Caribbean, Marisa Willoughby-Holland and Tessa Whitehead connect to their interior and exterior landscapes. through femininity and motherhood, while Richard Nattoo uses folklore, ancestral mythologies and also a connection to childhood. Lush color, surreal imagery, and intimate references to the natural world create works that feel deeply personal and transportive, moving between memory and lived experience. Together, the presentation offers an atmospheric encounter with Caribbean identity and its "sperrit."
